About Jude
Jude and his family have lived in the Electorate of Cranbourne since 1989 and have been actively involved in the local community. Jude has a Bachelor of Science and has extensive experience working in information technology.
Jude has worked as a market researcher, and since 1988 as a software developer on a permanent and contract basis. Jude has worked in Sri Lanka, New Zealandand in Australia for companies including Able Cooke, Myer Direct, Brashes,Ansell International, Network400, Heinz, Lease Plan and Pac Brands.
Jude is married to Helen and they have two children and three grandchildren. In his spare time Jude enjoys sport and is a member of several sporting and community groups in the electorate.
Jude was the first and so far the only Sri Lankan born Australian to be elected to serve in any Lower House Parliament in all of Australia. So far, he is the only Sri Lankan born person to be elected to a Legislative Assembly for a consecutive three terms anywhere in the world.
During Jude Perera’s Parliamentary tenure, he has served on the following committees: Parliamentary Investigatory Committees, Scrutineer of Acts and Regulations Committee, Family and Community Development Committee as the Chair and currently in the Road Safety Committee.
Jude is also the Co-Chair of the Victorian Parliamentary Friends of India and Secretary of the Parliamentary Friends of the United States of America.
